RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff insists that Timo Werner is "happy" at the club amid talk of interest from Liverpool.

RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff has insisted that Timo Werner is "happy" at the club amid suggestions that Liverpool are closing in on a deal for the striker.

The Reds are allegedly nearing an agreement with Leipzig over a €58m (£48m) move for the Germany international.

However, Mintzlaff has played down the speculation surrounding the 23-year-old, who has scored 25 times and contributed 10 assists in 30 appearances for his Bundesliga side this season.

"We hear these reports all the time," Mintzlaff told Transfermarkt. "Someone makes something up, and everyone else copies it. Werner is happy here and wants to play the rest of the season."

Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have also previously been linked with the former Stuttgart youngster, who will reportedly see the release clause in his contract expire in April.

Werner has registered 20 times in 22 Bundesliga appearances this season.
