Rickie Lambert to have Liverpool medical on Saturday?

Southampton striker Rickie Lambert will reportedly undergo a medical on Saturday ahead of his £4m switch to Liverpool.

Widespread reports emerged on Thursday evening claiming that the Reds had tabled a bid for the England striker.

The offer has now been accepted by the Saints, and the 32-year-old will leave for Merseyside for his medical before joining back up with the England squad ahead of their trip to Miami, according to the Daily Mail.

The Anfield side are keen to seal the transfer before the World Cup starts in two weeks' time, and will use the window in between Friday's friendly with Peru and their departure to America to conclude the deal.

Liverpool have also been heavily linked with a move for Lambert's teammate Adam Lallana.
