Daniel Sturridge: 'Past experiences have helped me'

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge believes that his past experiences at Chelsea and Manchester City have helped him succeed during his time at Anfield.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has insisted that "the journey isn't finished" after a memorable opening 14 months at Anfield.

Sturridge has scored 33 times in 42 appearances for the Reds since joining the club from Chelsea in January 2013, and the England international believes that there is more to come from him as Liverpool attempt to win their first league title since 1990.

The 24-year-old told Sky Sports News: "Good things come to those who wait, as they say. I've had to wait my turn, but I think that, in the end, all the things that I have been through in the past, they have helped me get to where I am today.

"I thank Chelsea and Manchester City for what they have done for me in the past. It's been an amazing journey so far, but the journey isn't finished."

Liverpool face Sunderland on Wednesday evening as they look to close the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea to one point.
