Ian Rush believes Barcelona play in a similar style to the Liverpool side of the 1980s.
The former Liverpool striker has said that the Catalan giants "have taken their style from Liverpool", referring to the dominant side of two decades ago.
The reigning European champions featuring the likes of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta has been hailed one of the greatest sides ever, but Rush insists that they are based on the Merseyside club's blueprint.
"When you look at Barca, they have taken their style from Liverpool in the 1980s," said the Welshman.
"When they have the ball they're always attacking and when they don't they press you in their numbers to try and regain possession.
"We knew when we didn't have the ball that we needed to press hard to try and win it back and they're doing much the same."
Rush scored 229 goals in 469 appearances in his time at Anfield.
