Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has revealed that he is relishing the competition for places at the club this season.
The England international, who started the 1-0 win over Stoke City at the weekend, has also vowed to fight for his place in the early weeks of the campaign.
"It is always nice to play, I am sure that is the same for everyone," the 23-year-old told the club's official website.
"But we are a squad and there will be times when other people come in and I have to keep fighting for my place and hopefully stay in the team.
"The most important thing in your first game of the season at home is to win the game and that is what we got."
Next up for Liverpool is a trip to Aston Villa on Saturday.
