Kenny Dalglish says that he is confident the FA will take steps to ensure Liverpool's FA Cup semi-final does not fall on the same day as the Hillsborough anniversary.

Kenny Dalglish has said that he is confident the FA will take steps to ensure Liverpool's FA Cup semi-final does not fall on the same day as the Hillsborough anniversary.

The Reds booked their place at Wembley with a 2-1 win over Stoke at Anfield and could face Merseyside rivals Everton in the last four.

The two semi-finals are due to be played on April 14 and 15, with the latter being exactly 23 years to the day since 96 Liverpool fans died in Sheffield.

Dalglish said that Liverpool have not played on the date ever since the tragedy and reinforced the club's poignant stance.

"We won't play on the 15th. The FA and UEFA have always been exemplary and very supportive, and that's great credit to them," said the Scot.

"I don't think it's even worth a line in a paper that we might play on the 15th because we won't. We've never played on the 15th before, have we? So there you are. Why would they change now?"

It is believed that Liverpool have already contacted the FA regarding the significance of the date.
