Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirms that Georginio Wijnaldum and Ben Woodburn will miss the second leg of his side's Champions League tie with Porto.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Georginio Wijnaldum will miss the second leg of his side's Champions League last-16 tie with Porto.

The Reds will welcome Porto to Anfield on Tuesday night with one foot already firmly in the quarter-finals courtesy of their 5-0 victory in the away first leg last month.

Both Wijnaldum and youngster Ben Woodburn have missed the past two Premier League games due to illness and, while they are now on the road to recovery, Klopp confirmed that the midweek match will come too soon for them.

"Ben trained yesterday but he looked three kilos less, to be honest. Gini still hasn't trained with the team. He had a little bit of an athletic programme, a little bit of running – not too much," he told the club's official website.

"They were really out for a few days. They are coming back but it will be too early for both of them. There is not too much of an update possible in the moment because we have had no training so far.

"We will meet the boys a little bit later and we'll give them as long as possible between these two games until they have to show up to recover, and then we will fix all the things. We had a few knocks after the game, an ankle here and a muscle there; not a muscle injury but dead legs and stuff like that.

"It was an intense game, so we need to wait a little bit. But, [there are] no major things so far that I heard about."

Despite Liverpool's substantial lead at the halfway stage of the tie, Klopp has ruled out the prospect of making wholesale changes to his side.
