Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Bayern Munich

Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news for Liverpool ahead of their Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich at Anfield.

Liverpool turn their attention from the Premier League title race to the Champions League next up when they host Bayern Munich at Anfield on February 19.

The Reds will have a 10-day break between games and face a Bayern side struggling to match their past dominance in the Bundesliga this season.

Liverpool have also been knocked off top spot in the Premier League table, though, and will take on a resurgent Manchester United side just five days after this European showdown.

Jurgen Klopp's side returned to form and winning ways with a 3-0 win over Bournemouth last time out - a match which also saw them welcome Trent Alexander-Arnold back from injury.

There are still concerns for last season's beaten finalists, though, and here Sports Mole rounds up the latest injury and suspension news.

Status: Slight doubt
Type of injury: Abdominal
Possible return date: February 19

Shaqiri was missing from the squad to face Bournemouth on Saturday due to an abdominal injury, although it is not thought to be serious and he could be available to face his former club.

Dejan Lovren

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: February 24

Klopp was unable to rule Lovren out entirely for the first leg of this tie, but did admit that he was planning for the match without him so the Croat is highly unlikely to feature.

Joe Gomez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: March 31

Gomez suffered a significant setback in his recovery from a broken ankle when he needed surgery, and he is now expected to be sidelined until the end of next month.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: March 31

Oxlade-Chamberlain has not featured since last April and could miss a full 12 months of action before returning. Klopp hinted that he might be available for the quarter-finals of the Champions League should Liverpool make it past Bayern.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Virgil van Dijk

Liverpool will be without the imperious presence of Virgil van Dijk against Bayern after he accumulated too many yellow cards during the group stages. Fellow defender Andrew Robertson is also one booking away from a ban.
