Good afternoon and welcome to live commentary of the Premier League encounter between struggling Hull City and mid-table West Bromwich Albion.

The Baggies arrive at a chilly KCOM Stadium this afternoon on the back of one of their best results in the top flight, after thrashing Burnley on Monday. Albion could go as high as sixth if they beat the Tigers and other results go their way.

For City, defeat at the hands of Sunderland last week has left Mike Phelan's side in the bottom three and looking for a win to boost their hopes of survival. They go into this game six points behind today's opponents.

With the scene set, let's bring you the team news from the east coast.

HULL CITY XI: Marshall;,Elmohamady, Dawson, Davies, Tymon, Snodgrass, Livermore, Mason, Clucas, Henriksen, Mbokani

SUBS: Robertson, Maguire, Meyler, Huddlestone, Jakupovic, Diomande, Bowen

Unsurprisingly, the Baggies are unchanged from the side which won 4-0 against Burnley. Nacer Chadli has returned to training this week following knee surgery, but is on the bench for the visitors. Solomon Rondon will lead the line for Pulis's side.

Hull have also named the same starting XI from the defeat at Sunderland. Andrew Robertson has recovered from a calf problem and is among the substitutes. Adama Diomande is also on the bench after returning from suspension.

In naming an unchanged team, Tony Pulis is perhaps looking to keep Albion's feel good factor, which has seen them rise into the top half of the table.

He is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We played very well as a team against Burnley. The last couple of games we've been very, very good.

"Winning breeds confidence. We have got to keep that level of performance up. We have got to maintain the level of togetherness and try to keep doing what we've done."

Meanwhile, his Hull counterpart Mike Phelan is seeking a better performance, both in defence and attack this week.

He told reporters: "We have to get over the disappointment of last weekend quickly because it's a fact that we didn't defend well enough and that we didn't score goals from the chances we created - and we did create chances.

"It's sometimes easier said than done to fix that, but we have to give a good show this weekend now. I'm sure that if we keep that same forward-thinking attitude, then we will start to score goals."

Phelan's team are looking to end a poor run of results. Indeed, Hull have only picked up four points in their last 10 Premier League outings, compared with six points in their opening two matches of the season.

Hull do boast a reasonable home record against the Baggies at least. The Tigers are unbeaten in their last three meetings with Albion at the KCOM, keeping two clean sheets in that time.

However, if City are to keep a third clean sheet, they will need to stop Solomon Rondon. The Venezuelan has made a strong start to the season, scoring 13 times and providing four assists. Incidentally, there is no place in the matchday squad for fellow Baggies striker Saido Berahino, who is still short of match fitness.

Today's home game for Hull could take on extra significance today with Sunderland heavy underdogs for the game at Liverpool and Swansea and Crystal Palace facing each other at the Liberty Stadium in what could be an early six-pointer. Although there are only four 3pm kickoffs, we may see the battle against relegation taking shape.

As well as the goalscoring form of Rondon, Pulis can rely on Craig Dawson and captain Darren Fletcher. The duo have started each of the last 50 Premier League games. Only six players in total have been ever present in the division during that time.

PREDICTION: As we near kickoff at the KCOM, it is time for a prediction and it is hard to see past a third win in a row for the Baggies. With Hull in wretched form, Albion could win this comfortably. I've plumped for 2-0. Their best hope of getting anything today might be a draw, which is at a price of around 2-1 with a few betting markets (Disclaimer: Other ways of giving away your money are available).

The teams are in the tunnel. What is noticable is the amount of spaces in the KCOM. Of course, a significant number of Hull fans continue to protest at the ownership of Assem Allam.

KICKOFF: The stadium announcer gets far too excited, willing his side on as the game gets underway.

Morrison gets an early cross into the box, but his delivery ends up on top of the net. Marshall looked unflustered with that wayward ball.

The Baggies are certainly keen to ping the ball around. Another ball into the box is cleared. Dawson decides against putting another cross in and the visitors earn a corner.

Morrison again looking pick out his teammates from the right-hand side. Tymon, a Hull academy graduate, snuffs out the danger and the Albion have another corner.

Some concern for the West Brom bench. Yacob is down after a challenge with Livermore. In fairness, it looked like Livermore only had eyes for the ball.

The Argentine is alright to continue. Meanwhile, Elmohamady tries to create Hull's first chance. His cross is poor though. It has been a scruffy start at the KCOM.

I mentioned the sparse crowd in the stadium, but the West Brom end is packed and their fans are in full voice. On the pitch, Hull are settling after a nervy start.

Dawson tries to get West Brom going forward with long ball up to Rondon, only the see his pass trickle out for a goal kick. It is noticable that Davies is paying close attention to the Venezuelan forward.

I said Hull are beginning to settle, but they are now making hard work of stringing passes together, much to the disappointment of their manager.

Snodgrass looks to run onto Mason's pass over the top. The Scot is caught offside though. We are still waiting for the major chance of the game.

Brunt tries to put a high ball in the direction of Rondon in the box, but fails to find the Venezuelan. While West Brom have been the better side, they have been poor in the final third.

Another cross from the Baggies. This time it's Dawson and he overhits a ball in the direction on Rondon. Davies chests the ball into the grasp of Marshall.

A quarter of the game has passed and neither keeper has made any significant save as yet.

SHOT! Morrison finds the ball of the edge of the box and decides to shoot well over the bar. He had Rondon in space, screaming at him. A good chance squandered.

Now it's Mbokani's turn to scream at his teammates. He was expecting ball into him, which never came. It's fair to the service into forwards is lacking so far.

Now Nyom is taking a turn at delivering a cross and it's another dire delivery. Just think only 18 minutes until the break. At the moment, the interval can't come quick enough.

YELLOW CARD: Michael Dawson gets the game's first yellow for a foul. Craig Dawson is sizing up a West Brom free kick.

Correction, it was Brunt over the free kick. It came to nothing after Mbokani used his skill to bring the ball away from the danger area.

Clucas does very well to win the ball back 40 yards from the West Brom goal, but once again a move breaks down after only a few passes. Posession has been 50/50 so far, but neither side have been decisive in attack.

Well, West Brom edge ahead from a set piece. The first decent cross comes from a Phillips corner and McAuley heads home. Marshall's view seemed to be blocked by Fletcher, but he had no chance to save that.

Snodgrass is trying to get Hull back on level terms. However, the Scottish international is being crowded out by Baggies defenders.

Now Fletcher is down receiving treatment. It looks as though his ankle is the problem. Prior to that, Henriksen is guilty of a silly foul on Evans when the Northern Irishman was going nowhere fast.

UPDATE: While there is a break in play, a quick update form elsewhere and it is 1-1 in the games involving Leicester and Middlesbrough as well as Swansea and Palace. Liverpool are being held by Sunderland.

Michael Dawson is forced to clear while under pressure from Rondon. The Baggies will have another corner, but Craig Dawson's header drifts wide.

YELLOW CARD: Clucas brings down Fletcher. A deserved yellow for catching his right ankle.

Three minutes of added time left at the KCOM.

Hull really are struggling for confidence at the moment. It will be interesting to see what Phelan does to change this.

Well, a chorus of boos greet Hull City as they leave the pitch. It has been a first-half performance lacking in conviction from the Tigers. While West Brom were not exactly sparking, they have a well-deserved lead.

STATS: McAuley's 34th-minute header turned out to be the only attempt on target throughout the first 45 minutes. Hull failed to register a single shot at goal, despite having slightly more possession than Albion. Strangely, Hull have a better pass completion rate compared to the Baggies (80%).

BENCH WATCH: If Hull's fortunes are the change this afternoon, it may be that they turn to the returning Diomande. They also have Tom Huddlestone and David Meyler available from the bench. Meanwhile, the Baggies could introduce Nacer Chadli following a knee injury.

I've just seen that one bookmaker is offering 10/1 that Hull will come back to win this one. I must admit, it's not looking likely right now. We're moments away from kickoff in the second period.

HULL SUB: Diomande is indeed coming on for the hosts, looks like Mason is making way.

KICKOFF: Back underway at the KCOM.

CHANCE! Mbokani squnaders Hull's first real chance. Snodgrass delivers the cross, Davies flicks on, but the former Norwich man can't get a foot to turn it in.

Phillips is onside as he latches onto a ball over the top. Marshall manages to head away from the former QPR man's path.

Whatever Phelan said to his side at the interval, it seems to be working. Hull have a bit more urgency at the moment.

SAVE! Foster's first save from Snodgrass' long-distance effort is met by ironic jeers. Yacob should be closing down the Scot in all honesty.

SHOT! Diomande, who has looked lively, squares a ball into Livermore and the midfielder's curling effort is not far off target.

SAVE! Great football from Hull. Eventually Clucas squares into Livermore's path, but Foster gathers with ease. Better from the Tigers.

Phillips is again involved as Rondon plays him in down the right flank. This time, however, the cross is meek and Marshall collects.

Rondon manages to escape the clutches of Livermore and Hull have to concede a corner. Have the Baggies recovered following City's initial dominace at the start of the second period?

YELLOW CARD: McAuley is now in the book for a challenge on Mbokani. Snodgrass is over the free kick.

SAVE! Good save by Foster from Snodgrass's free kick. West Brom are just about holding out at the moment!

SHOT! Phillips steps in from the right flank and shoots, but scuffs his effort. It looks like James McLean is being readied.

WEST BROM SUB: Indeed, McLean comes on in place of Fletcher, who has been in the wars for the first hour.

SHOT! Another effort from Hull, but his time Mbokani's strike is blocked. City are certainly applying themselves well since the break.

YELLOW CARD: Evans is the latest to go into the book and it's a needless yellow for delaying the free kick.

Foster is watchful as he collects a long-ball from Clucas. Hull are trying everything they can to get back on terms.

Well, that is probably fair reward for Hull's second-half effort. It's a scrappy goal as Snodgrass ball is knocked down by Mbokani and Michael Dawson turns home from close range.

Well McAuley can breathe a sigh of relief! His screws up a clearance from another Snodgrass cross. Luckily for him, it rolled into Foster's grasp.

SHOT! Michael Dawson is the hero again, but this time at the other end. He gets a vital block to Phillips shot, which looked to be heading goalwards.

WEST BROM SUB: Morrison is coming off with Chadli getting his first action since returning from injury.

Rondon gives away a foul. The Venezuelan had latched onto a clever cross from Chadli, but was eventually crowded out before being penalised.

Snodgrass again gets into a good position, but McAuley is alert enough to snuff out the danger. Mbokani than delivers a cross which Foster takes. All Hull at the moment!

WEST BROM SUB: Final change for the Baggies as Robson-Kanu replaces Phillips. I think we should two up top for the visitors for the remaining minutes.

CHANCE! Almost immediately, Robson-Kanu is involved as he gets on the end of McLean. The Welshman heads well wide though.

Now Hull are looking to get Meyler for the final few minutes. At the other end, Dawson is all over the back of Rondon and give away a free kick.

SAVE! Marshall tips away Chadli's free kick at full stretch. Plenty of pace on that shot and the Baggies will have another corner.

HULL SUB: Meyler is finally on in place of Henriksen. Meanwhile, Robson-Kanu makes a mess of squaring the ball for Rondon when in a good area.

Shaky moment for Foster, whose clearance only reaches Diomande. Thankfully for the Baggies keeper, it's followed by a wayward long-range strike.

Four minutes left at the KCOM. Can either side eek out a late winner?

HULL SUB: The youngster Tymon makes way and the first-choice left-back Robertson is on for what must be the final few seconds.

Groans around the KCOM. City were in a advanced position, but played the ball back to their centre-halves before Dawson almost gave the ball away.

CHANCE! Rondon should win it at the end. McLean delivers a beauty of a cross and the forward peeled off the back post before heading wide.

Well, that was very much a game of two halves! Hull arguably earned a point on the back of that second half showing, but I wonder if Albion should have killed that game off sooner.
