Sam Larsson stars as Heerenveen topple Feyenoord

Heerenveen inflicted a first defeat of 2015 on Feyenoord with a 3-1 comeback victory in the Eredivisie at Abe Lenstra Stadion this evening.

Feyenoord thought that they had taken the lead inside the opening 10 minutes, but Jens Toornstra's header was ruled out due to him being offside.

The visitors did soon break the deadlock in the 28th minute when Colin Kazim-Richards slammed into the roof of the net, but that would be their last shot on target.

Heerenveen were level just before half time through Simon Thern, who beat Kenneth Vermeer with a shot from distance.

The Feyenoord keeper was then beaten again from range as the hosts went in front for the first time in the 58th minute, when in-form Sam Larsson powered home.

Larsson put the result beyond doubt with his second goal 13 minutes from time as Heerenveen cemented their place in the top seven.

Their home record against the trio of Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord is excellent of late, with now just one defeat in eight games.
