Vincenzo Montella surprised by Mohamed Salah form

Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella admits that Mohamed Salah is surpassing expectations following his brace in the Coppa Italia win over Juventus.

Fiorentina head coach Vincenzo Montella has claimed that Mohamed Salah's form has come as a surprise after the Egyptian helped secure a 2-1 victory over Juventus in Turin.

Salah, who joined the club on loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day, took his tally to six goals in seven games by scoring a brace in the Coppa Italia semi-final first-leg win, and Montella was quick to praise the attacking midfielder.

"Salah is in a state of grace and we hope he can continue. He has settled in very well. We knew that he was strong, but honestly his immediate impact has gone beyond expectations," the Viola boss told Rai.

"The team has been consistent since November to December. We have a squad with many alternatives and the January transfer window gave me some other options to choose from.

"The team is confident and aware of what it can do, but also is staying humble. We have reached a certain level of maturity and after some time together, the players understand me and I understand them."

Fiorentina return to action against Lazio in Serie A on Monday.
