Everton have been linked with a move for Austria Vienna striker Philipp Hosiner.
The 24-year-old scored 32 goals in 34 games for the Violets last season, helping them win the Austrian league title for the first time in seven years.
Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim were believed to be in pole position to land the Austrian international, who has admitted being lured by the prospect of playing in Germany.
However, the Daily Mail reports that Toffees boss Roberto Martinez is also considering a bid, with Vienna said to be looking for a fee in the region of £5m.
Hosiner made his international debut two years ago but had to wait until March for his second cap, when he found the net twice in a 6-0 win over the Faroe Islands.
