Roberto Martinez expects more Everton goals

Everton manager Roberto Martinez is confident that his team will score more goals as the season progresses.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has backed his team to score more goals as the season progresses.

The Toffees, who are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table, have found the net 14 times in 11 games during the current campaign.

Despite failing to score in their last two matches, Martinez is confident that his side will pose more of a danger in the final third in the coming months.

"The goalscoring of ability of a team is very important. You are going to be successful in a season if you are solid defensively and have a threat of scoring goals," he told talkSPORT.

"Scoring goals will come more often once we get the understanding of the players. We have goals in the side, I'm not worried about that. The focus is on the strikers but it is the wrong focus."

Everton continue their Premier League campaign on Saturday when they welcome local rivals Liverpool to Goodison Park.
