Shane Duffy thanks Everton supporters following Blackburn Rovers switch

Shane Duffy admits that he is "sad" to have left Everton, but says that he is looking forward to a new challenge at Blackburn Rovers.

Shane Duffy has said that he is "very excited" to represent Blackburn Rovers having completed his switch from Everton earlier today.

The 22-year joined the Championship club on a three-year deal amid much speculation regarding his future.

"I'm very excited about the new challenge in my career and I can't wait to get going," BBC Sport quotes Duffy as saying. "I'm sad about leaving Everton, but can't thank everyone enough at the club for what they have done for me from the first day I got there.

"The fans have been amazing and I will always follow Everton. I would like to wish everyone at the club every success and hope everything goes well."

Duffy is in line to make his Rovers debut against Wigan Athletic following the two-week international break.
