Everton defender Seamus Coleman out for a month with calf strain

Everton manager Roberto Martinez says that Seamus Coleman will be out for up to a month with a calf injury picked up against Manchester City in the Capital One Cup.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez has revealed that Seamus Coleman will be out for up to a month after damaging his calf during tonight's Capital One Cup semi-final first-leg victory over Manchester City.

Coleman was one of three Everton players to go off injured during the match at Goodison Park, and Martinez said that the Irish full-back is likely to be out for up to four weeks.

Tom Cleverley and Romelu Lukaku were also forced off, but Martinez does not feel that they will be out for long.

"Seamus Coleman's injury is the most serious of the three," Martinez told reporters. "Cleverley had a calf problem that flared up at half time.

"Lukaku will be assessed. I don't know if he'll be available for the weekend, but I don't expect it to be too serious."

Everton's next match before the second leg against City in a week's time is against Dagenham & Redbridge in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
