Preview: Everton vs. Wigan Athletic

Everton vs. Wigan

Everton welcome Wigan Athletic to Goodison Park in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, looking to reach the last four for the second season running.

The Toffees, who were beaten by Merseyside rivals Liverpool in last season's semi-finals, overcame Oldham Athletic 3-1 in a fifth-round replay to reach the last eight.

If Wigan Athletic win, they will reach the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in the club's history. They have already matched their best showing in the FA Cup, which was a quarter-final appearance in 1987.

Roberto Martinez's side beat Huddersfield Town 4-1 in the previous round to set up this all-Premier League clash.

Everton boss David Moyes could still be without goalkeeper Tim Howard with a back injury, so Jan Mucha is on standby to replace him. Victor Anichebe could be recalled up front.

Martinez could stick with the same XI which were beaten 4-0 by Liverpool last weekend.
