Daegu 0-5 Barcelona: Highlights, man of the match as Marcus Rashford scores first goal for La Liga champions

Rashford makes his mark in dominant Barcelona victory

Barcelona concluded their pre-season tour of Asia with a dominant 5-0 victory over K League 1 side Daegu in South Korea.

The Blaugrana entered the contest in high spirits after kicking off their pre-season schedule with a 3-1 win against Vissel Kobe and a 7-3 victory over Seoul.

It was clear from the first whistle that Barcelona were hungry for more goals in Deagu, with Gavi requiring just 21 minutes to open the scoring against a team that are languishing at the foot of the K League 1 table.

Robert Lewandowski quickly doubled Barcelona's advantage, before Gavi scored his third goal of pre-season to send his team into the break with an unassailable three-goal lead.

With Flick keen to spread the minutes across his squad, it was unsurprising to see the Barcelona head coach make wholesale changes at the interval, including the introduction of Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford

The 27-year-old played a role in Dani Olmo teeing up Toni Fernandes for the fourth goal, before the Englishman swept the ball home to score his first goal for the Blaugrana, making it a night to remember in the pouring rain in Daegu.

To Daegu's credit, goalkeeper Han made a number of important interventions to prevent Barcelona from adding to their tally in the final 25 minutes, but the Spanish champions would have still been delighted to run out comfortable winners in the final leg of their pre-season tour of Asia.

SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT

After racking up 174 goals in Hansi Flick's first season, the early signs suggest that Barcelona will continue to be a tough team to stop in the 2025-26 campaign, having racked up 14 goals across their three friendlies in Asia.

Flick will recognise that his team will face much tougher opposition than Daegu this term, especially as the South Korean side have lost 16 of their 24 matches in K League 1 this season.

The Barcelona boss would have certainly been pleased with Rashford's performance in the second half, as the Man United loanee linked up neatly with Olmo to create the scoring chance for Fernandez before putting his own name on the scoresheet with a clinical finish.

There may be just under two weeks to go until Barcelona begin their La Liga title defence against Mallorca, but if this game and tour is anything to go by, the reigning champions are already raring to go.

Fernandez goal vs. Daegu (55th min, Daegu 0-4 Barcelona)

Barcelona put together a slick attacking move to take their tally to four in the opening stages of the second period. Dani Olmo neatly exchanges a one-two with Rashford, before slipping the ball through for Fernandez to calmly slot home.

Rashford goal vs. Daegu (65th min, Daegu 0-5 Barcelona)

MAN OF THE MATCH - GAVI

Gavi impressed in his first-half performance, playing a key role in establishing Barcelona's dominance in the contest before the half-time interval.

The 20-year-old showed great composure and technique to open the scoring, before his deft touch enabled him to score his second of the day and third of pre-season in the closing stages of the half.

Lamine Yamal also caught the eye with a number of thrilling runs, while Olmo and Rashford were among the standout performers in the second period.
