John Terry signs one-year contract extension at Chelsea

John Terry signs a new contract at Chelsea until the end of the 2015-16 season.

Chelsea have announced that captain John Terry has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract at Stamford Bridge.

The 34-year-old recently expressed a desire to extend his stay at the club as he remains an integral part of the team's defence.

The former England international, who made his Blues debut back in 1998, is on course to win his fourth Premier League title as Jose Mourinho's side currently top the table with a six-point lead over Manchester City.

"I'm delighted to have signed an extension to my contract with Chelsea," Terry told the club's official website.

"After adding another major trophy (Capital One Cup) to my collection this month I hope myself, the players and manager can continue to bring success to our club.

"Playing for this great club makes me so proud. And as always I would like to thank the fans who have continually supported me."

Terry has won the Champions League, Europa League and five FA Cup finals during his time at Chelsea so far.
