Report: Everton to offer Romelu Lukaku new contract amid links to Chelsea

Everton's Romelu Lukaku will reportedly be offered a new contract, despite having three years left to run on his current deal, following talk of a return to Chelsea.

Everton are reportedly willing to offer Romelu Lukaku an improved new contract at Goodison Park to fend off interest from Chelsea.

The Blues are thought to be preparing a club-record move for the Belgium international, who left West London for £28m just two years ago.

According to The Express, Everton officials will meet with agent Mino Raiola - currently thrashing out the final details of Paul Pogba's switch to Manchester United - later this week to discuss fresh terms for the 23-year-old.

Lukaku still has three years left to run on his current contract, but the Toffees are said to be willing to go all out to keep their star striker happy in the hope that he will reject any formal approach from Chelsea.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman confirmed on Sunday that the injury picked up by Lukaku in the defeat to Espanyol will not keep him out of Saturday's Premier League opener with Tottenham Hotspur.
