Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Spurs

Chelsea return to action on Sunday afternoon as they make the short trip across the capital to face rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

On the back of last weekend's 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton, Graham Potter's side are left in 10th position in the standings.

However, while the Blues sit 11 points adrift of their fourth-placed opponents, they possess a game in hand, and that scenario effectively renders this showdown as their biggest fixture of the season to date.

Ahead of a highly-anticipated encounter for both clubs, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: March 4 (vs. Leeds United)

Having not played since August, N'Golo Kante has recently made his return to training after hamstring surgery. While Chelsea will hope to have him available as soon as possible, he will not be considered for this weekend.

Christian Pulisic

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: March 11 (vs. Leicester City)

Christian Pulisic has been absent since the first week of the year since sustaining a knee injury against Manchester City, and the winger will not return until next month at the earliest.

Armando Broja

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Armando Broja sustained an ACL injury during a mid-season friendly against Aston Villa during the World Cup break and the striker is ruled out for the rest of the season.

Edouard Mendy

Status: Out Type of injury: Finger Possible return date: Unknown

Edouard Mendy has not played in any competitive match since representing Senegal at the World Cup in December due to a fractured finger, and the goalkeeper is not expected to return for a number of weeks.

Cesar Azpilicueta

Status: Out Type of injury: Concussion Possible return date: March 4 (vs. Leeds United)

During last weekend's defeat to Southampton, Cesar Azpilicueta was kicked in the face by Sekou Mara, who was attempting an overhead kick. The defender required eight minutes of on-the-pitch treatment and subsequently spent time in hospital.

Although the Spaniard has since been discharged, he will now follow concussion protocols, ruling him out of this fixture.
