John Guidetti brace downs St Mirren

John Guidetti scores twice as Celtic claim a 2-1 win against St Mirren in their Premiership match at St Mirren Park.

John Guidetti scored twice for Celtic as the Scottish champions claimed a 2-1 victory over St Mirren in their Premiership clash this afternoon.

The visitors started strongly and almost took the lead inside the opening two minutes when Guidetti's effort was blocked by the keeper.

St Mirren were then inches away from finding the net, but Thomas Reilly saw his long-range effort come crashing off the bar.

Celtic began to dominate the match and midway through the half Anthony Stokes came close when he cut inside and lashed a shot into the side-netting.

With three minutes of the first half left to play the visitors took the lead when Scott Brown's ball across the box was forced into the net by Guidetti.

St Mirren levelled the scores four minutes after the break through Kenny McLean, who fired home after Jason Naismith's shot had been saved by Craig Gordon.

Celtic restored their lead in the 63rd minute when Guidetti was played through on goal by Stokes, before slotting an effort past the keeper.

The visitors continued to dominate and they saw out the rest of the match with relative ease to claim the three points.
