Stephan Lichtsteiner returns to Massimiliano Allegri's starting XI following his recovery from a heart condition, replacing Simone Padoin at right-back.

Giorgio Chiellini and Stefano Sturaro are also drafted in to start for the Old Lady ahead of Andrea Barzagli and Sami Khedira.

Monchengladbach manager Andre Schubert, meanwhile, has opted to keep his team unchanged following their 4-1 demolition of Hertha Berlin at the weekend.
