Adam Henley is being monitored by the national footballing bodies of England, Wales and the USA, who are all keen for him to commit his international future to them.
The Blackburn Rovers full-back was born in Tennessee to an American father and a Welsh mother before he moved to England when he was two years old.
He has represented Wales at youth level but is free to change his allegiances because he has yet to make his full international debut.
Last month, Henley told BBC Sport: "I've got three options, but I'm still a young lad and I don't really want to tie myself down."
However, the 17-year-old has made a big impression since making his Premier League debut in December and the trio of nations are preparing to up their efforts in an attempt to win his services, according to The Sun.
Henley has made seven first-team appearances for Rovers this season.
