Romelu Lukaku: 'My game is more than goals'

Lukaku: 'My game is more than goals'

Romelu Lukaku has said that he wants "to be seen as an all-rounder" on the football pitch rather than a player who simply scores goals.

The Manchester United forward has netted four times for Belgium at the 2018 World Cup, but he was not on the scoresheet against Brazil in the quarter-finals on Friday night.

The 25-year-old still received widespread praise for his performance though, having set up Kevin De Bruyne for Belgium's second in their 2-1 win over the Selecao.

Lukaku has insisted that he no longer needs to prove himself as a goalscorer, and is instead focusing on his overall work for the team.

"Everyone thinks Romelu Lukaku is just about goals, goals, goals, but I want to be seen as an all-rounder," Lukaku told reporters.

"Providing assists is also important, and this year I have provided more than ever. Of course I want to score but, at the same time, I try to work as hard as I can for the team.

"I don't have to prove myself any more [as a goalscorer]. Everyone knows I can score with every chance provided to me in the box, but the individual doesn't count here."

Belgium will take on France in the semi-finals of the World Cup on Tuesday night.
