Thursday's World Cup predictions including Japan vs. Spain

Sports Mole provides score predictions and previews for all of today's World Cup fixtures, including Japan vs. Spain.

Croatia vs. Belgium (Thursday, 3.00pm)

Group F favourites Belgium face the prospect of elimination at the first hurdle of the 2022 World Cup when they take on Croatia at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium on Thursday.

The Red Devils currently sit in third place, one point behind the Checkered Ones and Morocco in the top two heading into their final group fixture.

We say: Croatia 2-1 Belgium

While Croatia require only a draw to qualify for the last 16, the pressure is on Belgium to turn up on Thursday and claim maximum points if they wish to escape Group F and avoid a disappointing early exit.

Belgium have individual stars who on their day can make the difference when it matters, but Dalic's cohesive Croatian side have looked stronger after the first two group fixtures and we can see the 2018 finalists coming out on top to end the group stage at the summit.

Our tipster partners are predicting under 3.5 goals.

Canada vs. Morocco (Thursday, 3.00pm)

Morocco have the chance to extend their stay in Qatar beyond the group stages when they face Canada at the Al Thumama Stadium on Thursday in a World Cup Group F tie.

Canada are already eliminated, but there are potentially huge implications on this fixture for the North African side.

We say: Canada 1-2 Morocco

Canada will probably cause Morocco a bigger threat than Croatia and Belgium managed and will hope to get more goals and at least a point.

However, with so much riding on the game for Morocco, if they can replicate their performances already in the group, they will secure last 16 qualification.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 1.5 goals.

Japan vs. Spain (Thursday, 7.00pm)

Group E leaders Spain will lock horns with second-placed Japan in an intriguing 2022 World Cup contest at the Khalifa International Stadium on Thursday evening.

Both nations failed to claim maximum points in their last group game, with La Roja forced to share the spoils with Germany, while the Blue Samurai suffered defeat against Costa Rica.

We say: Japan 0-2 Spain

Japan's conflicting results in their opening two group matches make them somewhat of an unknown quantity heading into Thursday's clash, but Moriyasu's energetic bunch will relish their underdog status, as they did against Germany, and will bid to pull off another shock result in Doha.

Spain, meanwhile, have made a strong start to their World Cup campaign, and even if Enrique decides to rotate his starting lineup, they should have enough quality to get the job done against Japan.

Our tipster partners are predicting an away win.

Costa Rica vs. Germany (Thursday, 7.00pm)

The bottom two sides in World Cup 2022 Group E prepare for a mouthwatering battle for qualification on Thursday, as Costa Rica tackle Germany at the Al Bayt Stadium.

Hansi Flick's side left it late to rescue a 1-1 draw versus Spain last time out, while Los Ticos kept their hopes of a last-16 place alive by beating Japan 1-0.

We say: Costa Rica 0-2 Germany

The fire within the Costa Ricans' bellies may be burning bright, but a distinct lack of goal threat from their attackers should prove costly against Germany, even an out-of-sorts one.

Bringing in the likes of Sane and Fullkrug from the start should help Flick's side lay down an early marker at the Al Bayt Stadium, and we expect Die Mannschaft to break down the defence-heavy Ticos side and do all that they can to push for a top-two finish, leaving their fate in the hands of Spain and Japan.

Our tipster partners are predicting over 2.5 goals.
