Liverpool in Salah successor blow as Bundesliga giants prepare to 'act fast'

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are ready to offer Michael Olise a new contract, with several Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring the French winger ahead of next summer.

The Bavarians only secured his signature in the summer of 2024, paying Crystal Palace £50m, and he quickly became a standout performer, delivering an astonishing 43 goal contributions in 55 appearances last season as Bayern reclaimed the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen.

Olise is currently tied to the club until June 2029, but according to TBR Football, Bayern are pushing for an extension to deter potential suitors from attempting to price him away in 2026.

Reports suggest Bayern want the deal wrapped up swiftly, which would ensure any future move for the France international could command a fee in excess of £80m.

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail claims Liverpool are among the clubs closely following the 23-year-old, viewing him as a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, who turns 34 next year, though the Reds face competition from other top sides also considering a move.

Who are the clubs looking to sign Michael Olise from Bayern Munich?

Several top European clubs were keen on Olise during his Palace days, with Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Newcastle United among the first to make contact with the London side and express serious interest in the winger.

Olise ultimately chose a move to Germany, but that has not stopped other clubs from keeping him firmly on their radar, and some are even preparing to test Bayern’s resolve in the near future.

Liverpool’s interest remains strong, as mentioned earlier, while Chelsea have not given up hope of signing the Frenchman – the Blues famously triggered his £35m release clause in 2023, only for Olise to reject the move and sign a fresh deal at Palace just days later.

Interest also stretches beyond the Premier League, as Barcelona are reportedly monitoring the situation and could make their own approach if an opportunity arises.

Michael Olise’s rapid rise cements him among Europe’s most exciting and complete wingers

Olise has developed into one of Europe’s standout wingers, combining creativity, pace, and technical skill, with his numbers last season elevating him into elite conversations across football.

The Frenchman’s versatility allows him to impact games in multiple ways, whether drifting wide, cutting inside, or delivering decisive passes, while his decision-making continues to mature impressively every season, leading to better numbers each season.

Olise really began to show signs in his last season at Palace, contributing to 16 goals (10 goals and six assists in 19 matches), which rose by 168.75% last season at Bayern.

At just 23, Olise’s ceiling remains incredibly high, and with more experience and top-level exposure, he might become the continent’s very best.
