Schalke 04 snap up Bayern Munich's number two Peter Hermann to join their coaching staff at the Veltins-Arena.

Bayern Munich assistant manager Peter Hermann has agreed to become part of the coaching staff at Schalke 04.

The 61-year-old will follow Jupp Heynckes out of the Allianz Arena after Saturday's German Cup final against Stuttgart, with former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola preparing to take charge of the European champions next season.

Hermann will work alongside Sven Hubscher to assist manager Jens Keller, who was appointed on a permanent basis earlier this month.

"In Peter Hermann, we have gained an experienced man for our coaching staff who has a magnificent reputation in the Bundesliga," general manager Horst Heldt told the club's official website.

Hermann has signed a two-year deal at the Veltins-Arena.
