West Ham United fail with bid for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes?

West Ham United have reportedly failed with a bid of £18m for Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.

The Portugal international has just spent the campaign on loan at Everton, with a total of 27 appearances being made in the Premier League.

The Toffees are said to be keen to secure a permanent deal, but Sky Sports News claims that West Ham are looking to sign the 25-year-old.

However, Barcelona have allegedly decided to reject a significant offer from the Hammers, due to their stance of only being willing to entertain offers in the region of £25m.

Gomes still has two years remaining on his contract at Camp Nou, although it appears unlikely that the player will return to Ernesto Valverde's first-team squad.
