Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny delivers a fresh update on his future with the La Liga giants.

Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has delivered a fresh update on his future with the La Liga giants.

The 35-year-old came out of retirement to join Barca in October last year, just under two months after leaving Juventus, after first-choice shot-stopper Marc-Andre ter Stegen suffered a season-ending knee injury.

Szczesny has since played a key role between the sticks for Hansi Flick's side who have already won the Supercopa de Espana and Copa Del Rey, and are now on the cusp of securing the La Liga title.

The Poland international has made a total of 29 first-team appearances for a Barcelona side who also progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League, losing 7-6 on aggregate to Inter Milan.

Speculation over Szczesny's long term future is rife, as he is due to see his current deal at Barcelona expire at the end of the season.

Szczesny confirms Barca contract offer, but is unsure over future

The experienced goalkeeper is expected to revert to a backup role once Ter Stegen returns to full fitness, while Barcelona have also been linked with signing a new shot-stopper amid reported interest in the likes of Espanyol's Joan Garcia and Brighton & Hove Albion's Bart Verbruggen.

Nevertheless, Szczesny has confirmed that he has been offered a two-year contract extension by Barcelona and he is still yet to decide whether to remain at the club.

Speaking to Canal Plus about his future, Szczesny said: "I don't know. I don't hide the fact that I received an offer of a two-year extension, but I have to decide with my family what's best for us.

"I think I owe it to my family, to my wife, to make these decisions together, so I just haven't made a decision yet."

Szczesny to decide Barca future "in the coming weeks"

Szczesny had admitted that his wife, Ukrainian pop star Marina Luczenko, is behind most of the decisions he makes in his life, adding: "Most of the decisions regarding my home are made by my wife, and I'm not ashamed of that at all.

"The football-related ones are mostly made by me, but this is such an unusual case, as we were determined to come here for a year to try to achieve our dreams, and then go back to playing golf.

"I'll decide in the coming weeks. There are also the logistical aspects of school, moving, and so on. For now, I'm enjoying what's happened and not thinking about whether I'm going to stay here or not."

Szczesny is expected to be involved in Barcelona's next La Liga match away against rivals Espanyol on Thursday and a win for Flick's side would secure the title with two games to spare.
