Barca 'take out £122m loan for new players'

Barcelona have reportedly loaned £122m from two American companies in order to fund a summer spending splurge.

The Spanish champions have been heavily linked with a new striker to act as cover for Luis Suarez, who is now 32 years old.

Frenkie de Jong has also already agreed to join Barcelona in a £65.3m deal at the end of the season, and Ernesto Valverde's side are expected to splash the cash further this summer.

Spanish newspaper El Pais reports that Barca have borrowed almost £79m from Pricoa Capital Group and nearly £44m from Barings, all of which could be spent on new arrivals.

The loan must be paid back within five years with a 1.8% interest rate, although Barca president hopeful Victor Font recently suggested that the club was having trouble sustaining itself.

Barca have made a number of big-money signings in recent years, including Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele.
