Barcelona transfer news: Catalan giants 'set asking price' for Spaniard amid Premier League interest

Barcelona have reportedly set an asking price of €15m (£13m) for Gerard Martin, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in signing the left-back during this summer's transfer window.

Martin played an important role for Barcelona during the 2024-25 campaign, featuring on 42 occasions in all competitions, scoring one goal and registering six assists in the process.

However, Alejandro Balde is very much the first-choice left-back at Camp Nou, while Inigo Martinez is also capable of featuring in that area of the field.

There is currently speculation surrounding Martin's future, with a number of clubs believed to be interested in signing the 23-year-old during this summer's transfer window.

According to El Nacional, Barcelona have set an asking price of €15m (£13m) for the Spaniard, and a host of Premier League clubs are said to be keen on his services.

Barcelona 'willing to sell' Martin for £13m

Barcelona are believed to be looking at a sale with a buy-back option, placing them in a strong position if they ever did wish to bring him back to Camp Nou in the future.

Martin is currently with the Barcelona squad in Japan, and he played the latter stages of their 3-1 victory over Vissel Kobe on Sunday, with the Catalan outfit beginning their preparations for the new campaign.

The defender had been recovering from a hand injury that he sustained while representing Spain Under-21s earlier this summer, but he is now back after initial fears that he may miss pre-season.

Balde will want to be first choice at this stage of his career, especially considering how he performed last season.

Martin has previously expressed a desire to remain at Barcelona

However, Martin said earlier this summer that he wants to stay at Barcelona.

“I don’t know if those stories are true. If they were, someone would have told me by now,” he told Mundo Deportivo. “I’m happy at Barcelona. I don’t want to go anywhere. As long as the coach and the club trust me, I can’t ask for more.

"The coach trusts me, and that helps a lot. We’ve done video analysis together, and in training, he pushes me to give my best. During games, he asks me to be myself and stay focused."

Martin has three years left to run on his current deal, so €15m (£13m) is a serious bargain for a player of his stature, and there could be an intense battle for his services in the coming weeks.
