Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Atletico Madrid: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Andreas Christensen, Marc Bernal updates

Ter Stegen, Christensen, Bernal latest: Barcelona injury, suspension news vs. Atletico

Division leaders Barcelona will be aiming to make it seven La Liga wins in a row when they head to Atletico Madrid on Sunday night.

The Catalan outfit were not in league action last weekend, with their clash against Osasuna being postponed due to the tragic death of their first-team doctor Carles Minarro Garcia.

However, Hansi Flick's side featured in the Champions League on Tuesday night, booking their spot in the quarter-finals of the competition courtesy of a 3-1 success over Benfica.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Barcelona's injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Atletico, who are third in the La Liga table, one point behind the Catalan giants.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Calf Possible return date: March 16 (vs. Atletico)

Christensen, who has only played once this season due to injury problems, has recently been on the sidelines with a calf issue, but the Denmark international has now been medically cleared to return, and in theory, he could be in the squad for this match.

Marc Bernal

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Bernal suffered an ACL injury against Rayo Vallecano in the league earlier this term, and he is out for the season, with the youngster working to be ready for pre-season ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Barcelona remain without their number one goalkeeper Ter Stegen due to the serious knee injury that he suffered in the clash with Villarreal on September 22. However, the German is now back on the training field and making excellent progress in his recovery.

BARCELONA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Barcelona have no players suspended for the clash with Atletico; Pau Cubarsi was banned against Benfica in the Champions League, but the Spain international will be back in the squad for this match.
