Luis Suarez: 'My old clubs couldn't win European trophies, but Barcelona can'

Suarez: 'Barcelona are all about silverware'

Luis Suarez has revealed that a major reason for his joining Barcelona was to have the chance of winning European trophies.

The Catalan giants are in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and Suarez has an opportunity of winning the elite tournament after joining from Liverpool for £75m last summer.

The Uruguayan has suggested that he left his previous clubs due to their not being in the position to dominate European tournaments.

"That's a plus here, as the clubs I've played for before didn't really have the chance to win big European trophies - maybe a domestic league or cup at best," Suarez told UEFA.com.

"Playing in a team like this, where all the players want to win every match and everything, that is a sign that it's all about silverware, whether it's the Champions League, La Liga or whichever trophy's available."

Barca will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their quarter-final at Parc des Princes tomorrow.
