Barcelona vow to avoid past mistakes

Barcelona appoint former caretaker manager Jordi Roura as their new director of youth football.

Barcelona have vowed to "avoid the mistakes of the past" after appointing Jordi Roura as the club's new director of youth football.

The Spanish giants are currently unable to sign any new players until 2016 after FIFA found them guilty of inconsistencies when it came to signing youngsters.

However, in an official statement, the Catalan side have insisted that they have "adopted measures" to ensure that the mistakes are not repeated.

"Jordi Roura has been named as the new director of youth football at FC Barcelona," read the statement.

"In a board meeting on Monday, the club board decided to give the former assistant coach of the first team the responsibility of overseeing the youth set up from the very youngest level all the way to Barca B.

"The board meeting also included details of the processes involved in contracting players at youth level, the subject of which the club was recently subjected to a ban from FIFA which was ratified by CAS. The board has adopted measures to avoid the mistakes of the past being repeated in the future."

Roura, who represented Barcelona as a player between 1982 and 1992, has previously been in caretaker charge of the Spanish outfit.
