Barcelona injury update vs. Rayo Vallecano - Ronald Araujo return date

Barcelona will be bidding to secure second position in the La Liga table when they take on Rayo Vallecano in their penultimate match of the season on Sunday night.

Xavi's side will enter the contest off the back of a 2-0 victory over basement side Almeria on Thursday.

The Catalan outfit are now four points ahead of third-placed Girona in the table, so they would secure the position behind champions Real Madrid with a win in this contest.

Gavi suffered a serious knee injury while representing Spain towards the end of 2023, and the highly-rated midfielder will not be available for selection until next season.


Alejandro Balde

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

First-choice left-back Balde underwent a hamstring operation at the end of January, and the Spain international will be out until next season.


Frenkie de Jong

Status: Out Type of injury: Ankle Possible return date: Unknown

De Jong suffered another ankle injury during the La Liga clash with Real Madrid on April 21, and the midfielder is expected to be miss the remainder of the season. However, he has been named in the provisional Netherlands squad for Euro 2024.


Ronald Araujo

Araujo is currently suffering with pain in his knee, and it has been claimed that he could miss the remainder of the season, but the centre-back, as it stands, has not been officially ruled out of this match.
