Real Madrid team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Barcelona

Real Madrid injury, suspension list vs. Barcelona

Real Madrid will be looking to move to within six points of Barcelona in the La Liga table when the two giants of Spanish football lock horns at Camp Nou on Sunday night.

Los Blancos are currently second in the division, nine points behind Barcelona, with Carlo Ancelotti's side needing to win El Clasico to claw back some precious ground.

The visitors will enter the match off the back of a 1-0 win over Liverpool, which saw them progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League with a 6-2 aggregate success.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Real Madrid's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their league clash with Barcelona, who have not been in action since winning 1-0 at Athletic Bilbao last weekend.

David Alaba

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

David Alaba suffered a hamstring problem in the first Champions League clash with Liverpool in February, and the Austria international is not expected to be back on the field until next month.

Karim Benzema

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Knock Possible return date: March 19 (vs. Barcelona)

Karim Benzema suffered a knock just before scoring against Liverpool on Wednesday, which led to his withdrawal, but the forward said after the match that he would be available for El Clasico.
