Athletic Bilbao cruise past Levante for first La Liga points

Athletic Bilbao have rounded off an up-and-down week with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Levante.

The Basque club lost to Malaga on the opening weekend of the season, but overcame Napoli in the Champions League playoffs in midweek.

After threatening with a couple of early openings for the hosts, Aritz Aduriz scored the opening goal just after the half-hour mark by meeting an Ibai Gomez corner at the near post and flicking home.

A Gomez set piece would provide the second goal as well, with Ander Iturraspe getting up to head home his free kick from the centre of the box.

Iker Muniain netted the third by bundling home from close range after Aduriz's shot had been parried straight into his path.

Levante remain pointless after suffering defeat to Villarreal last weekend.
