Barcelona consider Thomas Vermaelen swoop?

Barcelona have reportedly placed Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen on the club's transfer wishlist after missing out on AC Milan's Thiago Silva.

The former La Liga champions were believed to be keen on luring Silva to the Nou Camp. However, due to the Italian side's firm stance that the 27-year-old will not be sold, Barca are thought to have switched their focus to the Gunners defender.

It is understood that the Belgium international is now the top target for Barca sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta, according to the Daily Mail.

Vermaelen recently claimed that he is keen to finish his career at the Emirates.
