Arsene Wenger: 'No need for Arsenal to panic'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger insists that there is no need for fans to panic following his side's 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that there is no need for his side to panic following their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool this afternoon.

The Gunners were beaten on the opening weekend of a new Premier League season for the third time in the last four years as Liverpool hung on to edge the seven-goal thriller at the Emirates Stadium.

The hosts were booed off by supporters after the final whistle, but Wenger urged patience and is confident that his side will bounce back.

"It's not pleasant but we have shown in the past that we have the mental strength to bounce back. We have to not panic," he told Sky Sports News.

Wenger also admitted that his side are not physically ready for the new season, with a number of players missing out due to injuries or a lack of match fitness.
