Russian Federation win maiden gold in fencing

Russia win gold in fencing as they reign supreme in the women's team foil event in Baku.

Russian Federation have picked up their first gold in fencing at the European Games in Baku after winning the women's team foil this evening.

Russia - comprised of Diana Yakoleva, Yana Alborova, Anastasia Ivanova and Adelina Zagidullina - beat France 45-18 at Crystal Hall 3 to win their first gold in this sport since the tournament began last week.

Meanwhile, Italy edged out Poland 45-28 in the bronze-medal match to seal a podium finish for themselves.

Russia lead the medal table with 138 - 69 of which have been gold.
