England diver Rebecca Gallantree revels in "amazing" gold medal

Gallantree revels in "amazing" England gold

Rebecca Gallantree has reflected on the "amazing" feeling of winning Commonwealth gold for England after she and Alicia Blagg claimed first in tonight's 3m synchronised diving event.

The duo produced their strongest dive of the night in timely fashion to pip Canadian pair Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware in the fifth and final round.

Less than five points separated the nations' winning scores, with Gallantree and Blagg finishing off the event with 300.24 ahead of Canada's 295.65, and the 29-year-old is thrilled with the dramatic win.

"To do it in that situation, last dive, when it really mattered, and to do that to get the gold is just amazing," she told reporters.

Australia's Maddison Keeney and Anabelle Smith finished third in the event.
