Tom Daley believes he can overcome Chinese Olympic dominance in Rio

Tom Daley declares that he can overcome China's world-leading 10m platform contingent at the next Olympics in Rio after winning Commonwealth Games gold again.

England's Tom Daley has vowed to challenge China's contingent of divers at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Daley expressed his confidence after he convincingly dealt with the 10m platform field at the Commonwealths to win gold in the event for the second straight Games.

Daley at third is the only non-Chinese diver ranked in the world's top five at 10m, with just China's Yang Jian and Qiu Bo ahead of him in the FINA standings.

"I think there's every possibility that I can mix with the Chinese now," he told Sports Mole after collecting his gold medal at the Royal Commonwealth Pool in Edinburgh this evening.

"At the World Cup in Shanghai, I was right there. I missed the front four-and-a-half, and that is usually my 100-point banker. If I need to do it, I can do it, so I know that's the one that's kind of one of my leave it in the locker and when it needs to come out, it comes out and will get me right back up there.

"It's just about doing it at the right time and I wouldn't mind not beating the Chinese until 2016 if I'm honest. You've only got to do it once and do it when it counts."

Daley's next competition is the European Championships in Berlin later this month.
