Great Britain's Steve Cummings wins first Tour de France stage

Briton Steve Cummings wins stage 14 of the Tour de France, while Chris Froome extends his lead.

Briton Steve Cummings won his first Tour de France stage this afternoon, while Chris Froome extended his overall lead to three minutes and 10 seconds.

Cummings, who rides for MTN-Quebeka, was part of a 20-man breakaway during stage 14, and held off Romain Bardet and Thibault Pinot in a race for the line.

Meanwhile, Froome's lead grew as second-placed Tejay van Garderen struggled to the finish in Mende.

After the race, Froome claimed that a cup of urine was thrown at him, one day after his Team Sky teammate Richie Porte said that he was punched by a spectator.
