Julie Bresset wins cross country gold

France's Julie Bresset has won gold in the women's cross country event this afternoon.

Bresset built up a convincing lead going into the final lap, giving her a comfortable finish to take the gold in a time of 1:30:52.

Germany's Sabine Spitz was next to cross the line, taking silver with a time of 1:31:54 just ahead of USA's Georgia Gould, who claimed bronze.

Team GB's Annie Last finished eighth, just over a minute and a half outside of the medal positions.
