Ex-England rugby coach Stuart Lancaster named on British Cycling review panel

Lancaster on British Cycling review panel

Former England rugby head coach Stuart Lancaster has been named on the panel that will carry out an independent review into British Cycling.

The 46-year-old, who was sacked by the Rugby Football Union last year, will join sports lawyer John Mehrzad and London 2012 hockey bronze medallist Annie Panter on the panel.

The review, which has been commissioned by UK Sport and British Cycling, will look into the culture of the organisation following allegations of bullying and discrimination.

It was recently alleged that Shane Sutton, who quit as technical director of British Cycling in April, told female rider Jess Varnish to "go and have a baby", and also described para-cyclists as "gimps".

The review will be completed by the end of this summer's Olympics and Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro.
