Alena Amialiusik wins as Belarus claim gold in women's road race

Belarus claim gold in the women's road race at the European Games in Baku, following an impressive sprint finish from winner Alena Amialiusik at Freedom Square.

Belarus have furthered their gold-medal tally at the European Games as cyclist Alena Amialiusik claimed victory in the women's road race this afternoon.

Amialiusik achieved gold after winning a sprint finish in a time of three hours, 20 minutes and 36 seconds at Freedom Square.

The 26-year-old faced stiff competition from Poland's Katarzyna Niewiadoma who finished second and the Netherlands' Anna van der Breggen who clocked in for a bronze at third.

Belarus currently find themselves in third place in the medals table in Baku.
