England release Yorkshire Vikings duo for Roses clash

England allow Yorkshire Vikings batsmen Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to play in this Friday's Roses encounter against the Lancashire Lightning.

Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow have been given permission by England to play for the Yorkshire Vikings against rivals Lancashire Lightning in the Twenty20 Blast on Friday.

Both players are currently in the England squad for the ongoing Test series against Sri Lanka.

However, the duo have now been released for the Roses clash at Old Trafford.

The ECB has also announced that bowler Chris Woakes can play for the Birmingham Bears against the Durham Jets, while Jake Ball will turn out for the Nottinghamshire Outlaws in their double-header.
