NZ start second Test against WI solidly

New Zealand lost just one wicket in a stodgy first session of the second Test against the West Indies, finishing on 86-1 at lunch.

The Black Caps won the toss and chose to bat in Port of Spain, with Hamish Rutherford failing to get off to a good start before he was dismissed by Jerome Taylor after scoring three runs off 22 balls.

From then on, the duo of Tom Latham and Kane Williamson frustrated the hosts.

Latham (51 not out) brought up his third successive Test fifty in the penultimate over before lunch, while Williamson is 23 not out.
