West Indies take charge of second Test

West Indies have taken control of the second Test against New Zealand after dismissing the Black Caps for 260 on the first day in Jamaica.

The tourists were put under pressure immediately in the morning session with Brendon McCullum and Bradley-John Watling both being removed with the score only on 11.

Martin Guptill (71) and Ross Taylor (60) both scored half-centuries to provide some resistance against a threatening West Indies pace attack but a batting collapse put the hosts in charge.

Kemar Roach (4-70) produced a superb spell of fast bowling to finish of the opposition's tail and he was supported well by the lively Tino Best (2-40) to the delight of captain Darren Sammy.

Chris Gayle and Kieran Powell were left to negotiate a difficult period before stumps but both openers defended stubbornly to complete a productive first day for the Windies.
