Sri Lanka lift Asia Cup

Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win the Asia Cup in Dhaka, with Lahiru Thirimanne scoring 101 runs.

Sri Lanka have beaten Pakistan by five wickets in the final to win the Asia Cup in Dhaka.

Lahiru Thirimanne hit 101 off 108 balls and was ably supported by Mahela Jayawardene, who posted a score of 75 as the winners finished their innings on 261 runs.

Angelo Mathews and Chaturanga de Silva both finished not out with scores of 16 and 6 respectively.

Pakistan began in a struggling fashion on 18-3 as Lasith Malinga took out Sharjeel Khan (8), Ahmed Shehzad (5) and Mohammad Hafeez (3) within the first three overs, before they eventually mounted a recovery to end on 260-5.
